    It has been 4 years since the end of MGS2 and that is where this game's plot picks up, no more cold war. The Big Shell conflict is over, but you as a grandpa-esque and gruff Solid Snake have gotten into a whole new unknown mess. As the new game's motto states "No Place To Hide," you have no steady grounds for cover so you must quickly find a new area to stealthily hide.
