    Re: Video Cards

Tito, your first problem is the fact that you bought EQ2...

Your second is that you soiled your Hard Drive with EQ2...

The third is...wait for it...that you sat through the updates for EQ2...

Delete it, return it to a store that has no more copies of it so you can get World of Warcraft.

Seriously though, WoW is the shit, but if you want to play EQ2, that's your call.

As far as GPU's go, I'd recommend the NVidia GeForce FX 5800 or higher, and make sure, no matter what card you get, it's got at least 256 MB RAM...getting at least a gig of RAM in your tower is also HIGHLY recommended for MMO's.

    Re: Video Cards

If you want a REALLY good site to check specs out, and get really effective comparisons...and TOTALLY non-biased reviews...

    http://www.hardocp.com

I've read up on a LOT of tech stuff, learned a few things I didn't know before, and got a really nice idea of where to go as far as hardware upgrades for my PC.

The FX5200 is a nice card, but I've heard of problems with framerates on some graphic-intensive games, irregularities in C&C: Generals, Farcry doesn't perform very much higher than 14 FPS on medium acceleration settings, and heard some horror stories from techie friends who've had compatibility problems with it.

Like I said, check out the FX5800 and higher series of cards. Their anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering make them some of the best cards for the price that are out right now. NVidia is the way to go for gaming, even though a lot of people say ATi is better. I've had a couple ATi cards, and between them, my VooDoo's, and the NVidia ones I've had, NVidia, post-3DFX (makers of Voodoo series) purchase, are the best performers, and the lower cost for the actual hardware.

Btw, those of you that don't know what some of those terms are, check HardOCP, they explain in pretty simple-to-understand terms...
