http://previews.teamxbox.com/xbox/1066/Halo-2-Multiplayer-Map-Pack/p1/Availability On July 5th, the retail version of the
Halo 2 Multiplayer Map Pack will be released and the maps will also be available for download via
Xbox Live on the same date. The first 4 maps including Containment, Warlock, Sanctuary and Turf have are currently available. Containment and Warlock can be downloaded over
Xbox Live for free thanks to sponsorship from Mountain Dew, while Sanctuary and Turf cost a measly $5.99. Xbox Live subscribers will be able to download the remaining 5 maps for $11.99 on July 5th. Eventually Bungie plans on releasing all 9 maps for free, but we don’t have an official date for this as players will need to show a little patience if they aren’t willing to shell out the money for the maps now. The retail version of the Map Pack will also include a few extra features that won’t be available online, such as a behind the scenes documentary that takes viewers inside Bungie’s studio. There is also an animated bonus feature that showcases unseen events that happened during the Old Mombasa mission of Halo 2 that expands the gameplay experience a bit by focusing on events that transpired away from the campaign that players experienced.
